Gorillas in the mist

Well, they say it is a lifetime experience, and it's very true. A face-to-face meeting with the famous mountain gorillas (only 600 left in the world, all of them in this region). You first have to trek your way into the jungle and then you just bump into them and your heart stops beating. We came across a group of 15 of them and it's amazing how close you can actually get, watch them eat, sleep & play. But even more fascinating is when they stare at you.
This one is Poppy, the oldest female around (gorillas live up to 45 years) with her latest baby (they only have one baby every 3 years).

This one is a silverback (one of the old males), the nicest of the 4 in the group, doing "le Penseur" pose.
